Just in Time…
…for the summer heat, and five months in the making, the socks I was knitting for my husband are finally done 🙂 We still wear socks around the house on occasion, so I’m hoping they get to see a bit of wear before being retired until next season.
Pattern: Azure
Needles: US1
Yarn: SpritelyGoods Sidhe in Militia
Toe up with a lovely faux cable motif all the way from the toe up and over the leg – these cable-look-alikes are created by clever use of increases and decreases. Stitch pattern coverage is really nice, I especially liked the mini “cables” up the sides of the sock and the patterning that starts right up the heel flap. The socks seem to have a decent amount of stretch in them, and the gusset is certainly large enough to allow the socks to fit comfortably over the heel while pulling them on. I found the pattern to be well written, easy to follow and accurate – the socks fit my husband perfectly. The charts were clearly written and easily memorized. The only change I made was to add some ribbing on the sole through the midfoot region to guarantee a snug fit. While I had plenty of yarn left for additional leg length, my husband prefers his socks on the shorter side. For the bind off, I used the Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. If you are looking for a great textured sock that has the look of being cabled, you might want to give this pattern a try.
